Registration for Summer and Fall

After May 1st we will be opening up registration to children who are not returning students.  We advise parents of returning students to please turn in the registration form and your registration fee so we may guarantee your child’s placement.

If you have turned in a registration form for fall, remember that there is a $35.00 partial registration fee payment needed to guarantee your child’s placement.

Parents’ Day Program

On Friday, May 9th 2007, the children will be hosting a program in honor of their parents from 1:00 to 3:00 in the Kitsap Room.

There will be refreshments for the parents and children in their classrooms following the program.  The Kendall class will meet in the Olympic Room.  There will be no childcare or school that day except when the children attend the program.   Please allow extra time, as parking can be a problem with this many parents arriving at the same time.  All children need to eat before they come.

All children should be in their classrooms at 12:30. Mrs. Corey’s class will meet in the Olympic Room in the Givens Community Center at 12:30.

Memorial Day

There will be no school or daycare on Monday, May 26th.

Accounts

We have attached a statement to this newsletter to better help you with your last payment.  Please make your payment for the amount shown.  If you have any question about your statement, please see L.J or Brenda in the office or you can call them between 8:00 and 4:30.  We would like the accounts to have a zero balance at the end of May.

Study of the Month

This month we will concentrate our study on mammals.  Mammals are backbone animals, which have hair or fur on their bodies and give milk to their young. While this classification has many of the typical zoo and farm animals, it also includes bats (the only mammal with wings) and many water animals such as whales, dolphins, seals, otters, and sea lions as well as humans.  Besides learning the parts of animals and their habitats we’ll be doing a little work to show which continents have certain animals.  As usual our art, music and other activities will reflect our mammal theme.

Field Trip

The school will be taking a field trip to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium on Tuesday, May 27th, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Please note that we will not be going on Friday, May 23, as we originally planned because we could not get buses for that day.  The Elementary and Kindergarten class will participate in a 30 minute Discovery Program. Children will need to bring a disposable sack lunch.  Please turn in the attached permission slip no later than May 9th.  Click here for your permission slip. We have to pre-pay for this field trip 2 weeks in advance, so your timely return of the permission slip is greatly appreciated!

School Picnic

A potluck picnic will again be held at Long Lake Park on Friday, May 30th, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Children, parents, grandparents, siblings, and childcare givers are welcome.  On that day you will be responsible to watch your own children and any other children you might bring.  There will be a sign-up list posted in each of the rooms so that we will know how many will be attending and what you will be bringing.  The school will provide hot dogs and buns and ice cream.

Mother’ Day & Father’s Day Gifts

This year your child will be making a special present for their Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts.  Your child’s artwork will be part of their special present to you.  The total cost for both gifts is $5.  We will be adding the cost of the gifts to your monthly tuition for the month of May.

End of the year Information

This month we will be weighing and measuring your child and we will be sending home info on his/her growth.  At the end of the school year we will be assessing the children and you will receive a written report on your child (provided all fees are paid).

An end of the year account statement will be given to each child.  Please keep a copy of it for your tax records as we will not be sending you another for this time period.

We will be sending home all spare clothes and slippers on your child’s last day of school even if your child is planning to attend summer school.  This is a good time to check the slippers and clothes for wear, fit, and appropriateness for warmer weather.

Summer Birthday’s

We will be celebrating summer birthdays on May 29th for those children who will have birthday during the summer and will not be in school.

Box Tops

We’d like to thank everybody for turning in box tops this year.  In just two months, we have collected over $120.   GREAT JOB!  We have mailed in our first batch of box tops so you can track them on-line at www.boxtops4education.com.  Don’t forget so save your box tops this summer for next year.  We will send home box tops sheets at the end of this month so you can continue to save them over the summer months.  If you are in summer school, we will continue to hand out prizes every other Friday.  Thank you for all your hard work.

Summer School

Summer school this year will start on Monday, June 23rd and continue until Friday, August 1st.  It is a 6 consecutive weeks session. The fees are as follows: Preschool -5 half days = $370, 5 full days = $685.  Kindergarten/Elementary -5 half days = $375.00, 5 full days = $715. The tuition can be paid all at once or in two payments.  If your child is enrolled in a two or three day a week session you can contact the office for your tuition amount.

Thank You!
